Our Story
Background: Diverse life and professional experiences, as well as a strong commitment to supporting individuals who may be underserved in healthcare settings, inspired my decision to pursue a career as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner.
Reality Check: The current healthcare landscape often restricts providers due to time constraints imposed by insurance companies and employers, with appointments commonly limited to 15 or 20 minutes. This duration is frequently insufficient for conducting thorough assessments, providing education, and collaboratively developing treatment plans with patients. Such limitations are particularly prevalent among Medicaid recipients, where demand for services exceeds provider availability.
Our Response to the Challenge: JCR Mental Health Services, LLC, established by Bryan and Cecilia Parker, is committed to delivering care of a standard comparable to leading private practices, many of which do not accept Medicaid. In contrast, JCR provides high-quality services tailored to the unique challenges, needs, and goals of each individual, irrespective of insurance coverage or social circumstances.

What's in Name...
Selecting a name for our business was a significant decision, with the intention to incorporate the letter "J," inspired by Jeremiah 29:11, and to reflect the organization’s mission. My husband recommended "JCR," my father's initials, not only because of the enormous amount of respect he had for him, but to also recognize the fact that the example set by my father represents the organization’s core values. Because I wanted JCR to have meaning beyond familial ties, I sought input from others, and my niece suggested "Journey to Completeness and Recovery. Recognizing that "recovery" is often solely linked with substance use, we replaced it with "Renewal" to reflect the broad range of mental illnesses treated.

In Honor of my Father, Joseph Claver Richardson, the original JCR...
Joseph Claver Richardson was among the most intelligent and principled individuals that I have ever known. A devoted Catholic, he lived his faith with quiet strength and unwavering integrity - engaging in respectful, meaningful dialogue with those who beliefs differed from
own. Alongside, my mother, he visited the" sick and shut-in" nearly every week until a health crisis at age 86 made it impossible. His commitment to service never wavered.
As an educator, he consistently exceeded expectations, creating learning experiences that were both rigorous and deeply engaging. His generosity knew no bounds—he offered help freely, without hesitation or concern for his own resources, trusting that kindness would always be returned in abundance. The wisdom he shared with me and my siblings continues to guide us.
As we embark on this new venture, it is this value system that shapes our practice: to educate and empower, to offer nonjudgmental positive regard and the understanding that there is profound reward in being in service to As your mental health professional, I am honored to walk with you on your Journey to Completeness and Renewal. In this shared space, we are both enriched.

The Elephant in the room...it's a good thing!
At JCR Mental Health Services, the elephant is more than a symbol—it’s a reflection of our values and our vision for every individual we serve. Across cultures, elephants represent resilience, wisdom, compassion, and unwavering strength. They are known for their deep familial bonds and their ability to overcome obstacles with grace and patience.
Our logo captures the elephant’s journey: emerging from the weight of muddiness, head bowed, and rising into its full beauty and confidence. This mirrors the path of healing we walk with our clients—through struggle, toward clarity, and into self-assurance. We believe that every person carries the strength of the elephant within them. Our role is to help reveal it.
